The arena consists of a circular concrete pit some 10 feet (3 metres) deep.  In the centre of the pit is a pedestal which at the top is about 20 feet across (6 metres).  Fights take place on the pedestal with the simple objective of the throwing the opponent off the pedestal to win.  The bottom of the pit is lined with a thick layer of padding which is intended to break the fall of a fighter falling from the pedestal
A steel ladder is lowered onto the pedestal to allow the fighters to climb down onto the mat.  Once both fighters are on the mat the ladder is raised so isolating the pedestal until the fight is over and the winner declared.
Tonight the arena is full with a capacity crowd of about a 1000 people.
