The captain and the young woman are shown into Sir
Richard's wood panelled study. He introduces himself as Captain
Fashionue and presents his 19 year old daughter Tania. "I am seeking a challenger to fight my daughter in a bare knuckle fight and I have heard that you arrange such fights in your stockade?" "I would be delighted to arrange a fight for you Tania. I have several slave women that would be only too pleased to give you a match!" "No that is not what we want!" interrupts the Captain. "Tania will not fight a slave, she is a free woman and she will only fight a free woman, preferably a white planter or somebody of rank. She is a Captain's daughter! I will sweeten the contest by wagering 10 gold ducats on my daughter winning. "Good heavens - 10 gold ducats!" exclaims Sir Richard in astonishment, "I think I will definitely be able to find you an opponent with that sort of prize on the table!" |
